Who Needs This Product

Confined space entry supervisors, municipal utility crews, wastewater treatment operators, and industrial maintenance teams rely on a 3-way SRL-R as the heart of a compliant entry and rescue system. If your crew enters manholes, vaults, tanks, or vessels, OSHA 1910.146 requires a retrieval system for non-entry rescue, and a 3-way SRL-R provides fall arrest during the climb and mechanical retrieval when a rescue is needed.

Rescue-ready means inspected and rigged. A 3-way SRL-R only enables non-entry rescue if it is mounted with the correct bracket, inspected, and the attendant knows how to shift it into retrieval mode. Verify your rescue plan before every entry, and confirm fall clearance with the Fall Protection Calculator below.

How to Use

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Mount the device. Attach the SRL-R to your tripod or davit using the correct mounting bracket, and route the lifeline through the head sheave or pulley.
  2. Connect the entrant. Attach the lifeline snap hook to the dorsal D-ring of the entrant’s full-body harness.
  3. Verify SRL mode. Confirm the unit is in SRL mode for normal entry so the lifeline pays out and retracts with the entrant.
  4. Rescue when needed. Shift the unit into retrieval mode and crank the handle to raise the entrant, allowing one attendant to complete a non-entry rescue.
  5. Remove from service after events. After any rescue or fall arrest event, remove the device from service and send it for factory inspection.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the device before each use following the manual checklist. A competent person inspection is required at least annually.

  • Housing: cracks, impact damage, loose fasteners, or corrosion.
  • Lifeline: kinks, broken wires, corrosion, or cut or abraded fibers on rope models.
  • Snap hook: proper gate action, locking function, and load indicator condition.
  • Braking system: test with a sharp pull; the brakes must engage and hold.
  • Retrieval mode: must engage cleanly and hold a load without slipping.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest or rescue load on the device, a deployed load indicator, lifeline damage, or any condition where the inspector cannot verify the device is fit for service.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a confined space davit system – the rotating retrieval point that lowers and recovers workers and material over an opening. Confined space teams, utilities, and tank crews build their entry and non-entry rescue around it. It requires a rated winch or 3-way SRL, a full body harness, and a written rescue plan to form a complete system.

Features

360-degree boom

Swing the load over the opening and away to the landing zone.

Two integrated pulleys

Run a fall arrest SRL and a retrieval winch line simultaneously.

Permanent base options

Mount to steel, concrete, or a truck bed for mobile rescue.

Made in the USA

Patriot-line build for Buy American specs.

Removable boom

Lift the boom out when the entry point is not in use.

Tank and edge ready

Reaches over tank rims and leading edges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 3-way operation mean on this SRL-R?The device operates as a self-retracting lifeline for fall arrest during normal entry and exit, and it converts to a mechanical retrieval winch for raising or lowering a worker during a rescue. The third function is controlled descent during that retrieval process, which allows one attendant to perform a complete non-entry rescue. What is the user capacity of the DuraTech 3-Way SRL-R for Tripods? The rated user capacity is 130 to 310 lb max. That range covers the worker plus clothing and tools, so weigh your entrants fully equipped when you verify the system.Does this SRL-R satisfy OSHA retrieval requirements for permit spaces?Yes. OSHA 1910.146 requires retrieval systems for permit-required confined space entry unless retrieval would increase overall risk. This device provides the mechanical retrieval capability that standard calls for, and it meets OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.66.Can I mount this device to any tripod or davit?Mount it only with the matching FallTech bracket for your system. The tripod version includes an integrated leg mounting bracket, and the davit version ships with a davit arm bracket. Using the engineered bracket keeps the load path and certification intact. What happens after the device arrests a fall?Remove it from service immediately. The load-indicating snap hook shows when the device has seen a fall arrest load, and the unit must pass a factory-authorized inspection before it returns to service. How often does the device need formal inspection?Inspect it before each use following the manual checklist, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least annually. Harsh environments such as wastewater service may justify a shorter interval. What is the difference between the cable and Technora rope versions? The galvanized and stainless steel cable versions carry a 3/16 in wire rope lifeline, with stainless offering the best corrosion resistance for wet and chemical environments. The Technora rope version runs a synthetic lifeline that is lighter to handle and resists chemical attack, and it is the common choice for hot work environments.
