Setup Overview

  1. Inspect webbing, stitching, absorber pouch, and both hooks before use.
  2. Connect the harness-end hook to the dorsal D-ring.
  3. Connect the anchorage-end hook to a compliant anchor at or above the D-ring.
  4. Remove slack; limit free fall per the lanyard’s rating.
  5. Verify fall clearance below the work surface before starting work.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use and have a competent person perform documented periodic inspections per the applicable ANSI standard and MSA instructions.

  • Webbing and stitching: cuts, frays, burns, abrasion, UV fading, chemical damage.
  • Hardware: cracks, corrosion, distortion; gates and buckles close and lock.
  • Labels: present and legible.
  • Function: retraction, braking, or adjustment operates smoothly as applicable.
  • Impact indicators: any deployment means immediate removal from service.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, failed inspection, deployed impact indicator, or illegible labels.
